Esperance Community Fund
The Magellan Community Fund began in 2009 - it is a three-year program designed to support community and not for profit projects within Esperance.
In 2010 a total of $286,108 was committed from the Fund to nine Esperance organisations to undertake a variety of local community projects including $50,000 to build a boat dry dock for the Esperance Volunteer Sea Search and Rescue Group and $50,000 to the Restore Hope Foundation Esperance, for a mobile commercial kitchen to prepare and distribute meals in the community.
In 2009, ten community programs were granted funding. Project funding ranged from $10,000 used to purchase new equipment for the Esperance Goldfields Surf Lifesaving Club to $50,000 used to build a mobile commercial kitchen for the Restore Hope Foundation Esperance. In total, over $290,000 in funding support was provided to projects in 2009.
The application process is administered by the Shire of Esperance. Applications are assessed and selected by a five person panel comprising three community representatives and a representative from both the Shire and Magellan.
