Operational Sampling
Magellan Metals’ Operational Sampling Program responds to the Ministerial conditions of Magellan’s approval to transport sealed shipments from the company’s mine site near Wiluna to Fremantle Port. Under the approvals, lead monitoring results during transport operations must not exceed the local lead baseline ‘trigger’ levels established for the 1250 km road and rail transport route by Magellan and the State Government prior to the first sealed shipment of lead carbonate concentrate.
Maps showing key sampling locations can be downloaded here.
Frequency of operational sampling is as described in Magellan Metals Health, Hygiene and Environmental Monitoring Plan. Note: frequency differs for each parameter sampled.
Explanation of the derivation of the trigger levels can be found in the Baseline Sampling section of this website. The trigger levels with which operational sampling (that is, samples taken after commencement of transport as subject to Ministerial approvals and conditions on the project) results are compared in the tables in this section are those established during baseline sampling.
